Siem Reap: No Alcohol During Election Day

SIEM REAP: The Siem Reap Provincial Administration issued a notice to the authorities to instruct citizens, businesses and foreigners living in the area not to drink or sell alcohol for two days from July 22-23 while the election is held.

The administration called on all Cambodians, foreigners, businessmen and vendors living in Siem Reap to cooperate with the authorities by suspending the sale and consumption of alcohol during Election Day to help prevent violence, threats, intimidation, and traffic accidents, all of which are associated with alcohol consumption.

They also instructed the Department of Tourism to advise the owners and managers of karaoke bars (KTV), entertainment clubs, discos and beer gardens, and all tourism services that provide food and beverage services throughout the province to suspend the sale of alcohol as well.

The administration instructed the relevant authorities at all levels to cooperate, implement and disseminate information effectively, as well as to take legal action against the perpetrators in violation of the notice.
